Aarc Patterns by nemoorange Aarc Patterns by nemoorange
What happened to the resources/Patterns category? Anyways . .

I originally worked with this idea two years ago. I've got an AVS preset that allows you to select the pattern AND select the color palette you wanted to use. It was huge and it got so complex I eventually lost interest. Now I'm revisiting the project since I have the advantage of using Processing to do all the leg work. Previously, I was messing with vectors in Paint Shop Pro. Inspiration was ripped from Barcelona design group Lamosca.

These patterns are produced by first designing a tile. Each tile is composed of arcs. Using some basic math, I work out how the arcs will line up once rotated. The tiles are then rotated, thus producing a interesting zeitgeist image.

Color pallete "Karma and amore" provided by pich via Colour Lovers.

You know you could probably actually create these patterns to be used ON colourlovers.com. With their latest re-design came the pattern maker... you should check it out!

just if you were wondering what i was talking about, processing is capable of creating movements based on inputs (music included).

if avs kicks the bucket, this would be the next best thing:

yes i know processing since you posted those amazing links a long time ago. i fondled with it a bit about a year ago ;) it's very interesting but again a little bit slow once you access the pixelbuffer-array to do some serious DMing :p.

another HOT candidate [and my humble favourite] for the next big thing is VVVV -> [link] <-
